EXCITING LEADERSHIP CHANGES AT DSUK WITH A NEW CEO AND NEW CHAIR TO BUILD A NEW VISION FOR THE CHARITY.
There are big changes at the helm of Disability Snowsport UK, the charity which offers unique opportunities for children and adults with disabilities to access snowsports, with the appointment of a new Chief Executive and Chairperson.
Virginia Anderson has been appointed as the new Chief Executive, taking up the position on 12 July 2021. She has been involved in the third sector for more than 20 years as a fundraiser, funder, trustee and volunteer. Virginia is committed to ensuring disabled people can thrive and realise their talents, and has spent the last six years as head of fundraising and communications at Cerebral Palsy Scotland. She is chair of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising Scotland and a trustee of Glasgow North West Citizens Advice Bureau.
Virginia says; "The pandemic has been particularly difficult for disabled people and I am delighted to be joining Disability Snowsport UK at a time when we all look forward to taking part, reconnecting with people, and rebuilding fitness and confidence again."
To work alongside Virginia, the Board have appointed Shona Tate as the new Chairperson. Shona has been a DSUK Trustee since 2017 and most recently was the Vice-Chairperson. Shona has worked in the snowsports industry all her life, including racing for Scotland and instructing in many parts of the world.
Shona says: “I am delighted to be asked to take on the role of Chairperson for Disability Snowsport UK at this time of changing landscapes. Thank you to our outgoing Chairperson, Claire Pimm who has seen the charity through this very challenging time.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all, members, volunteers, patrons, supporters, staff, trustees and all our fundraisers out there who have helped us get through these last couple of years. The future is bright with many exciting developments within the charity and I look forward to meeting and engaging with everyone in the coming months as we bring together the new strategy for DSUK”
