Over the last couple of months, we have been reviewing our pricing structure and booking process and have taken into account feedback from members.

It is vital that we make booking as easy as possible for current members,  potential skiers and snowboarders, and that this process is accessible.

When the current subsidy system was introduced, DSUK wanted to make sure that lessons were priced as fairly as possible for skiers and snowboarders and that those who could afford to contribute more could do so. However, the process has proven to be complicated, and most members are taking up the subsidy offer.

The actual cost of a lesson will always be far higher than the price we charge members, and we will continue to fundraise to ensure we keep prices as low as possible. Voluntary donations towards the additional cost of a lesson will always be welcome.

We also want to make DSUK’s activities more accessible for beginners and new members to ensure people can easily take part and that we reduce barriers for new skiers and snowboarders. We will reduce the gap between these two prices to encourage new learners.

From the 4th October 2021, there will be a straightforward member and non-member price for a lesson at each site and:

1. All Lessons will now be subsidised automatically – those who wish to contribute more towards their lessons can do so.‍

2. As a result of the automatic subsidy, members will no longer need to complete an application to receive a subsidy.

3. Separate Member and Non-member pricing will continue.

4. As a result of increased costs, subsidised lesson prices will be increasing slightly for those who had been receiving the maximum subsidy but our advertised lesson prices will now be lower than they were previously – (e.g. for a member at Manchester the price advertised was £80.50 whereas now a member will pay the advertised and now subsidised price of £57).

Over the months ahead, we will also be reintroducing an online booking system to make it easier to plan and book your lessons at any time of day. We will be trialling this at one school first and look forward to getting your feedback on this.
