My first experience of skiing was at Glenshee. I was 18 years old and had always wanted to try doing something challenging but with as much independence as possible.
I went along with mum and dad to an open day but that was the end of their help as I was introduced to skiing with DSUK for the first time. It was so much fun and from that day I have been trying to get out on the slopes as much as possible.
In 2016, 2017 and 2018 I went to Andorra with National Star College which i was a student at and with the help of DSUK staff and Marcus, I had some incredible times skiing there. I even managed to ski one of the steepest red runs. Great fun!
Keeping my own balance while sitting in the sit ski without the riggers is somewhat challenging but it is something I enjoy working towards each time I manage to get out for a lesson.
Now that I have finished at college I have managed to continue skiing with ski lessons at Braehead in Scotland which I do as much as possible.
Also this year I managed to ski on the Ben Nevis Range which was a fantastic experience and great fun. It was 'blowing a hooley' as they say in Scotland but that didn’t stop me from having a brilliant time out with Doug.
I am very much looking forward to the lock-down being over so I can get back out on the slopes again and would very much like to get back to Andorra to make some more amazing memories.
