Snow Factor is in the Soar Intu Braehead
complex opposite the main Intu Braehead shopping centre (see http://soar.intu.co.uk/Visitor-Information/How-to-find-us
for directions). Parking is free and plentiful, and there are disabled spaces just outside the main door. Once inside, you will pass the climbing wall and numerous shops and restaurants on your way to the snow slope. Take either the escalator or the lift up to the first floor and follow the signs for Snow Factor – you will be directed back down a flight of stairs or via the lift in BarVaria to the reception and rental area.
All lessons with DSUK at Snow Factor start from the DSUK office. This is located opposite the main Snow Factor reception desk: if you come via the stairs it is behind you; if you arrive in the lift it is to your left. The instructor will meet you there, and if the instructor isn’t there to meet you they will be out on the slope finishing off their last lesson. You and any ski buddies coming out on the snow with you can start getting kitted up in warm and waterproof clothing (available to hire from Snow Factor); boots and skis if you are standing up to ski (tell the staff on the rental desk you are here on a DSUK lesson and they will help you out with getting appropriate equipment); and a helmet. You will need to bring your own gloves and ski socks. Everybody who is going out on the snow needs to wear a helmet, whether you are skiing or not. If you will be sitting to ski, DSUK provide the equipment and we will have this ready to transfer into at the start of the lesson. There is a hoist available if required – please bring your own Oxford sling.
There are changing rooms and a large disabled toilet at Snow Factor. There is a ‘Changing Places’ toilet with an adult changing bed and hoist in the main Braehead shopping centre. Lockers are available for personal possessions and take £1 coins which are non-refundable. Spectators can watch lessons from BarVaria or the viewing deck which are back up the lift or stairs the way you came in to Snow Factor.
